About Us

We met on our first trip to Haiti in July 2010. We have both fallen in love with Haiti and the people that live there. The girls we work with have taught us so much, and we pray we can have a positive impact on them as well.

Clothing Sales!

Firstly we need to say a BIG THANK YOU to Kids Against Hunger Pleasanton for letting us sell clothes to raise funds for our Haiti trip. Please check out their website on the left.

This is a video of Becca and I at 6am setting up signs for our garage sale.
Don't worry I don't really make her do all the work.

Here is a picture of us doing our Clothing Sale:

We were very successful over our 4 days of sales we made a little over $800! That was all made by selling things for $1/item!

Shopping

Today Becca and I spent a couple hours shopping for our trip. We had to get things that didn't require refrigeration, a microwave, or any mix ins other than water or oil. We will be eating A LOT of pasta for dinner. We also "splurged" on chips and nutella to hold us over when we are sick of beans and rice and pasta. Everything is really coming together! We couldn't have done our Costco shopping without our good friend Kaety...so THANKS KAETY we love you!!!

Bienvenue! Welcome!

Welcome to our blog! You may have noticed the funny name: The Haitian Adventures of Potato & Sugar Cane and wondered what that meant. Well Becca & I(Amy) are both particularly white just like potatoes & sugar cane. Becca is tall and very slender like a sugar cane, and I am plump like a potato! Our Haitian friend Vanessa called us this one day and we decided we liked it! So that's the story.

We will be traveling to Haiti this summer for 1 month and want to let you share in our experiences. We can't promise we will update frequently but we will try! Both of us will be contributing to the blog.

We thank for your support!

-Amy
