So a WONDERFUL thing happened to Amy and I the other day. Up until a week ago I was planning on paying for this trip out of my savings. I knew that I wanted to spend a month in Haiti this summer and I figured that since I had some money saved up, I should just do it. My other two trips to Haiti have been wonderful experiences and I feel that I've learned so much. I was fully prepared to spend my savings because it was something that I really wanted to do. However, the day that I was planning on writing a check to pay for our stay in the container, Tom (of Extollo) informed me that an anonymous donation that would cover the rest of the money we needed to raise was given to Amy and I. WHAT?? I was amazed and awestruck. This donation isn't the only money that Amy and I received either. We also got donations from various friends and family to take with us to spend on the kids there. This trip is practically fully funded by God through kind and generous people. Wow.
Before I received this news, I was sort of having my doubts about my motivation for going on this trip. I was wondering if I was going for the wrong reasons. I felt motivated for selfish reasons of missing this kids, and wanting an adventure for the summer. I wondered if these were the wrong reasons. However, I feel that this anonymous donation as well as the other donations means that Amy and I are doing what we are supposed to be doing. The financial aspect as well as other details about the trip have just been falling beautifully into place. I think that this is a reassurance that Amy and I are doing the right thing. I have been praying that God will use what we do and say to be a blessing for the people we come in contact with. I know that I always gain experiences from Haiti which humble me and make me think about things I wouldn't normally think about. These experiences change who I am for the better and I am grateful for it. I just hope and pray that God will use me and Amy's experiences there for good.
Amy and I are sooooo grateful to our friends and family who have supported us in preparation for this trip. I don't even have the words to thank everyone for the kindness you have shown to me. THANK YOU!
