About Us

We met on our first trip to Haiti in July 2010. We have both fallen in love with Haiti and the people that live there. The girls we work with have taught us so much, and we pray we can have a positive impact on them as well.

Arrangements

Planning for this trip has been slightly complicated. As is the way of Haiti :)

Apparently summer is the season for everyone and their brother to go volunteer in Haiti. Of the 1 month we will be in Haiti we have 1 week where we cannot stay at the Orphanage we work at normally. I can't tell you how many organizations I emailed to see if we could come help there for a week. Everyone was booked! One of our top choices "God's Littlest Angels" http://www.glahaiti.org/ said we would need to sign up now to come next summer! Hopefully we will be able to make it there someday. Our goal in finding somewhere to stay for one week was to find a place we could learn from. We wanted to find well run orphanages that might give us some insight for bettering the orphanage we work with.

We had it arranged to visit 2 different orphanages. One in Port Au Prince and 1 in Jacmel. The one in PAP(Port Au Prince) turned out to be VERY expensive. $70/day not including lodging which would be an additional $35/night to sleep in a tent. That was far too expensive. As most of the money for our trip is donated we try to be very good stewards and not spend unnecessarily. So we had to cancel. It turns out that everything will work out though. Because we wont be going to PAP we can help our churches Highschool Missions Trip by meeting them at the airport, showing them how things work, and who people are at the orphanage. Then we will go to Jacmel for a week and meet some awesome missionaries named Danny & Leann Pye! We hope to help them and learn as much as we can from them. They write a blog that you can check out here: http://pyesinhaiti.blogspot.com/

Yesterday we got our travel insurance purchased. Today we finally got our ride from the airport to Leogane figured out. It seems we are ready to go!

Please be praying for us! Here are some specific requests we have:
1-Pray for us to be good stewards of our resources.
2-Pray for us to be good examples to those we interact with.
3-Pray for us to to hear God and carry out what he wants us to do.
4-Pray for us to not carry out things in an American way, but a Biblical way.
5-Pray for our safety.
6-ALWAYS pray for the people of Haiti. For their health, education, and their relationships with God and each other.

Thanks
Amy
